- Fabulous Offerings at the Silent Auction - Litrato by Lorie
FEAT (Families for Effective Autism Treatment) of Washington has been helping families in Washington affected by autism for going on 15 years. Each year, they put on a gala event to raise money for their programs. The event features a lavish dinner, and both a silent and live auction. This year's event will take place on March 12, 2011, at the Hyatt Hotel in Bellevue.
Silent Auction
The silent auction features fabulous items donated by local businesses and benefactors. There is something for everyone with items valued as low as $25. The silent auction runs from 5:30 pm to 7:15 pm giving everyone plenty of time to mix and mingle as they bid on items in a relaxed atmosphere. With fine restaurant gift certificates, an XBox Kinect, Razor scooter, a round of golf at Aldarra Golf Course, high quality wines, spa packages and weekend getaways; there is bound to be something to tempt you.
Time to Dine
Guests will sure to be delighted with the dinner fare featuring beef tenderloin. Wine from Chateau St Michelle will also be served. A vegetarian option will be available as well.
Live Auction
With live auctions items up for grabs that include Mariner's tickets in the Owner's Suite, a five day vacation on a houseboat on Arizona's Lake Powell, and 22 - 60 second airtime spots on KOMO radio, the bidding is bound to get exciting.
What Kind of Programs Does FEAT Provide?
FEAT's focus is on the family. They provide personal, hands-on assistance to families affected by autism. They help families navigate the world of autism services, therapies, and medical insurance. They connect ABA therapists to families needing their services.
They also put on workshops to disseminate information related to autism to family members, teachers and other service providers. They sponsor Speakers Series, bringing in experts to speak on various topics.
They provide popular Respite Programs that allow parents a chance to leave their children, those with autism included, to enjoy fun activities with appropriate supervision for a few hours. For parents with children with autism, time for themselves is a rare treat.
FEAT also runs the Rising Star Academy which provides high quality early intervention programs. Other programs include the Summer Intervention Program, the Teen Transition Program, and a program aimed at developing social skills in high functioning kids with autism.
Truly, FEAT of WA provides valuable services and the annual Dinner and Auction is a big part of what keeps these programs running.

For some, the price of admission to the event ($150 per person) will be all the more they can spend. These funds, too, will contribute to aiding the programming provided by FEAT. Whether you plan to be a high bidder in the live auction, or just to enjoy a night out, all who attend are sure to have a great time supporting a great cause.
